Indian Madder (Manjistha), Beeswax, Resin of Indian Copal Tree, and Indian Sarsaparilla are the herbs that constitute Pinda Thailam, prepared with Sesame oil as the base. Commonly used to alleviate Vata and Pitta conditions, this is an excellent moisturizer and helps in preventing cracked and chapped skin. It is particularly effective in addressing chronic inflammatory joint and skin conditions that have a dry, rough, or burning quality associated with Vata and Pitta imbalance.
Pinda Thailam is widely used in Ayurvedic clinical settings for conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis (Amavata), osteoarthritis, psoriasis, eczema, and other chronic skin disorders. Its anti-inflammatory and deeply moisturizing properties penetrate the skin layers to reduce pain, swelling, and dryness from within. The beeswax content creates a protective barrier on the skin, sealing in moisture and allowing the healing herbs to work over a prolonged period. It is also used as a soothing post-treatment oil in Panchakarma therapies.
