Kottamchukkadhi Kuzhambu is an Ayurvedic oil used in the treatment of Vata disorders causing neuromuscular pains, sciatica, and spondylosis. Formulated based on Kerala Ayurveda practice, it helps to relieve pain and inflammation. It is used in arthritis, sciatica, myalgia, spondylosis, neck sprain, ankle sprain, blunt injury of the knee, tennis elbow, intercostal neuropathy, bursitis, and shoulder dislocation pain. It is also useful for relieving numbness, pain, and stiffness, and for post-viral fever body and joint pains.
Kottamchukkadhi Kuzhambu is used for massage and Ayurvedic therapies like Dhara. In low back ache, it is used for the oil pooling method called Kati Basti. Since it is only used for external application, it can be applied over painful and swollen areas for a very long period of time. The chief ingredient, Kottam (Saussurea lappa), has powerful anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects that penetrate deeply into joints and tissues, making this one of the most effective Ayurvedic oils for chronic pain management.
